Shirin Assa has been engaged with literary study of diasporic identities/Id*escapes in the field of Future and Postcolonial Studies and is intrigued by non-exclusive practices of communities, modes of identification, and subject formation. Currently a PhD candidate at BIGSAS, she pursues a comparative study on future-narratives of Europe at its intersection with migrants' futures. Born in Tehran and living in Berlin, she won the DAAD prize in 2016 and was shortlisted for the GAPS award 2017. Assa has also contributed to and collaborated with Routledge, De Gruyter, and Shanghai International UP, as well as African Literature Association, The Department of English and American Studies of University of Bayreuth, Bayreuth International Graduate School of African Studies, Bayreuth Academy of Advanced African Studies, Future Migration Network for Cultural Diversity, and Shanghai International University among others.
